Malisheva is a town situated at the center of Kosovo map, with a territory of 306.3 km. It has been an Illyrian settlement with other surrounding settlements within the municipality, laying along Mirusha River.

As a municipality it has an interesting history, bound with political movements of the 20th century.

The area is mainly inhabited by ethnic Albanian population, and the Roma minority. The soil within the territory is very fertile; therefore the main activity in the area remains agriculture.

In 1960 it got the status of a municipality from the socialist government of the time, by removing the status again 5 years later. Formally it was announced a municipality in year 2000, with 65.000 inhabitants, with 65 percent of the population being of young age.

Being positioned in center of Kosovo, and having a suitable terrain gives Malisheva good linkage with all the parts of Kosovo. Mirusha River runs through its mountainous territory with flat fertile lands in both banks of the river. The municipality is surrounded by Drenica Mountains’ massive with a highest peak at 1057 m, called Kosmaqi Peak and 1006 m called Kozniku Peak.

Downtown Malisheva consists of a straight main road running through the town where the administration, schools, police station, banks, coffee shops and taxi drivers are located. The downtown is defined by a treeless park, where the monument of our national hero Adem Jashari is located, by whom the park also got its name.

The municipality has great touristic potential, even though it still remains an undeveloped town; having within its territory some of the most interesting touristic spots in the country, such as Ilixha thermal water in village Baje, Flladi Cave in village Panorc, Mirusha Falls in village Llapqeva, the famous and old Arabaxhi Bridge in village Bubël, Berisha Mountains in village Berisha, Martyr Monuments in Malisheva and village Kleqka.
