During recent years, Bërnica e Epërme is becoming one of the preferred retirement villages for citizens of Prishtina; being situated about 5 kilometers away from Prishtina. It is a mixed ethnicity village, resided by both Serbian and Albanian communities. Houses, in the village, have big front yards with well organized fruit trees. The locals produce homemade Rakia (strong alcoholic drink) and milk products. There are few restaurants in the village, mostly serving traditional specialties. The locals are quite socializing, therefore for admirers of fruits, Rakia or milk products this may be the place for a weekly bazaar.
