The Gjonaj village is located within the lands of Hasi and Pashtrik, alongside the Drini Bardhë River, 17 km north west of city of Prizren.

In Gjonaj remains of old churches have been found, like the St. Catherine’s Church where the altar, crosses and carved decorating stones were found in once being the fundament of the church. Nowadays there is still the Church of St. John the Baptist and the St. Koll’s Church.

The history says that the villagers used to live closer to the river before, but they moved away because of the spreading of the infectious malaria disease. Nowadays, most of its inhabitants are living scattered throughout Kosovo, and are famous by mainly working in the bread baking industry.
