Last night, Teatri ODA was seething with hundreds of alternative music fans as the annual Rock për Rock competition kicked off at 8:45. Every year, Rock për Rock gathers newly-established, aspiring bands by giving them a chance to introduce their sound to Kosovos rock music scene. The 2011 edition was no exception.
The house was packed as the first contestants, the band Torch from Prishtina took to the stage. Guitar solos and heavy drum beats ignited a lively atmosphere which was fueled by upcoming groups from all regions of Kosovo, battling it out to win the first prize and a one-song recording deal.
The highlight of the evening was a five piece, all-girl rock band from Theranda. Dressed in revealing clothes, they provoked whistles and shouts among the male audience as they performed two mid-tempo soft rock songs.

After a loud evening and ongoing moshing sessions, the winners were announced and the first prize went to the band Stickers from Prishtina.
